Donations FAQ

How can I contribute?

Put your loonie(s) in an envelope and seal it. Write a name and phone number on the outside of the envelope for each contributor. Write "for Barry" on the envelope and drop it off at Morad Communications (where I work) in Hinton or Edson.

Why limit donations to $1?

Our democracy has been corrupted by money and as much as politicians promise change they keep doing most things the same way. As a result, voter turnout is steadily decreasing as ordinary people feel left out of the process. Limiting donations to an amount anyone can afford means that no one person or group can dominate and everyone has an equal opportunity to contribute.

What if I donate more?

The additional amount will be donated to the West Yellowhead NDP Constituency Association.

What will they do with the money?

That is their decision to make. I would recommend they donate to the central NDP campaign.

Who can donate?

Anyone with a loonie in their pocket.

Can I donate more than once?

Sure! But anything in excess of $1 per year will go the the constituency association.

Will I get a tax receipt for my loonie?

Not unless you really need the 75 cents when you file your taxes!

What do you hope to accomplish?

I hope to get elected as MLA, to help implement an NDP agenda. I would also like to involve more people in their own democracy, raise voter turnout and demonstrate that change is indeed possible by doing things differently.
